ADULT EDUCATION FACULTY & VOLUNTEERS
Adult Education at Mother Caroline Academy and Education Center is staffed by
one 3/4-time administrator and 6 dedicated and dynamic part-time staff. Every
staff member is fluent in at least one language in addition to English and
is committed to helping our adult students reach their goals---whether it
is attaining their GED, understanding Excel, or becoming more fluent in English.
Our Literacy, ESL, and computer classes are led by a staff of dedicated and creative educators. They are assisted by enthusiastic and committed volunteers from local communities and work-study students from local universities. One volunteer recently wrote, “In truth (the) students nourish me, and I receive much more than I give.” |
OUR VOLUNTEERS
Volunteer Katherine Fogarty helped two Academy parents prepare for the Citizenship
exams and interviews. This fall, Academy parent Sonia Alleyne was sworn-in
as a U.S. citizen.
University of Massachusetts - Boston work-study student Katherine Brodmerkle leads an advanced conversation group for students who have completed ESL Level 4, but want to continue to practice their English in a relaxed, but structured environment. Topics in the conversation group include history, gender issues, cross-cultural issues, and current events. |

Volunteer Bill Valentine teaches two mornings a week in an ESL Level 3 class. Without Bill, there would be no morning class for advanced English students! Bill’s class includes challenging grammar as well as writing assignments, speaking activities, poetry, and music. |
