Annmarie Quezada, MCA’s New Head of School to start July 1, 2018
January 22, 2018
Dear MCA Community,
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we are pleased to announce the appointment, by unanimous vote, of Annmarie Quezada as the 5th head of Mother Caroline Academy and Education Center (MCA), effective July 1, 2018. With more than 25 years in the education field, Annmarie is an exceptional school leader who will bring integrity, vision and mission- driven values to the Head of School role, ensuring that MCA continues to thrive for years to come.
Annmarie’s background reflects her long-standing commitment to education, particularly focusing on the formative middle school years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Italian from Boston College and a Masters of Art in Teaching from Salem State University. After spending a little under ten years in the banking industry, Annmarie shifted gears and transitioned to a teaching role at the Brookwood School as a Spanish Instructor. She continued teaching Spanish at Cape Ann Waldorf School and Miles River Middle School. These roles propelled Annmarie into her next, most extensive teaching tenure at St. John’s Preparatory School, where she served for 12 years from 2002 – 2014 as the AP Spanish and Literature Instructor and eventually as Chair of the World Languages Department.
Quezada then moved into administration, serving as principle and now currently as Interim Head at Esperanza Academy in Lawrence. In these roles, Annmarie became very well- versed in the administrative aspects of leading a school: managing a budget, a team of faculty and staff, cultivating donor relationships, overseeing admissions and curriculum and collaborating well with a board who hold her in high regard. With this experience and coming from a similar all-girls school, Annmarie has clearly developed the breadth of experience required in a Head of School.
In getting to know Annmarie, the Search Committee was impressed by her poise, diplomacy, thoughtful communication style and strong but humble presence. Annmarie respects the partnership that exists between MCA’s parents, faculty and staff and the sense of community and family that exists at MCA. She deeply values all that Mother Caroline Academy is today, but she will also push us in healthy ways to grow, change and embrace the future.
Annmarie succeeds Ed Hudner after his wonderful seven year tenure at the school. Ed has shaped MCA into the special place it is today, touching the lives of hundreds of students, families, faculty and staff members. We will have a number of opportunities to celebrate Ed’s legacy and show our gratitude for his excellent leadership.
